This is the Summative paragraph for the painting I did of Kenna Alston. I learned some knew skills such as using lighter and darker colors of a base yellow-brown to show the shadows and light parts for her hair. I also used light colors like white mixed in with the pink to create the highlights on her lower lip. I also learned how paint a mouth and teeth I tot he drawing and make them look realistic. I learned how to create a skin color by using green, red, and white and using more white and blue to tint and shade the color when necessary to show the shadows and lighter areas of her face. With this painting I was able to show 3-D features and shadows to create a realistic human face.

I can re-sketch my pencil drawing for a painting with the correct proportions – head shape & feature placement- 5

I can softly define features with the correct size in relation to each other and the head- 5

I can create a unified image with a sense of emphasis on the face or part of the face.- 5

I can indicate three dimensions by using complementary colors for shadows and highlight.- 5

I can paint with defined brush marks so I create clear textures for skin, hair and any other details.- 5

This is the summation paragraph for the picture I drew of Kenna Alston. During this drawing, I learned many things about the actual human face, such as the face proportions is close to 2:3. I found things like when drawing teeth for instance, I draw them as one solid tooth, and define them as necessary. With this drawing, I made the face more long shaped and it fit the details of the face more nicely. I found that with her long hair, I did not need to draw the ears as they were covered up by the hair. The eyes are in the middle of the face and while I did find it difficult to draw the glasses, I felt after I drew them they fit the face nicely. I drew the neck going from under the face, and using shadows to show the neck was both below and 3D, but also begin the face. I used shadows mainly on the right side of the face due to a light being to the left side. I also learned many faces have highlights and shadows, and so when I paint the drawing, I will make sure to define the true highlights and shadows.
