I feel like this was one of my best semesters that I've had in a long time. I put as much effort in my art that I made as I could. I think my biggest success was creating the hippo that I created as the pinch pot. What surprised me this semester was how many topics of art we were going to cover. I was expecting drawing and some paint, but instead we covered drawing, paint, clay, and even drawing on the iPads. My favorite project this year was the pinch pot animal I made. Skill I used for the project were for example pushing in the clay and pinching it and also joining two together to create a hollow space. I think it made my project better because while it was a hippo that looked solid, the inside and head was completely hollow which made it even cooler. I hope to use the skills I learned in Heideman Art in future art classes. I may also be taking ceramics later in high school.

This is the picture that a drew for the spooky tree drawing assignment. There is trees and hills which have a layered effect. This was made on the iPad sketch app, using a blue scale  for the trees, two different greens for the hills, and a yellow for the background. A new skill that I used with this drawing was using different scales of color to show depth in the drawing. A main art element of this drawing would be color, which I used to give the "spooky" feel, and giving it a layered look. This drawing gives off a "spooky" feeling.

This is the test drawing that I made using the iPad sketching app. For this drawing, I made a darkish orange for a sunset, with a road going over the two hills and a tree on one hill. this drawing was made on the iPad sketch app and was drawn with a stylus. A new skill that I used for this drawing was alternating line sizes for defined and broad detail, such as the small lines in the tree. A main art element that I used was lines, using those to create the hills, road, etc. This drawing gives a kind of related feeling, like its the end of a long day and you are watching the sunset before it becomes night.

This is the soft slab cup that I made. The cup is a basic cup with 3D lines goin around it, with small, round indentations on the lines. It is made out of clay and covered with glaze. The colors I used were clear for the inside, and alternating between nutmeg spice and yellow for the wrap around lines.A new skill that I learned was using a cup to wrap the clay around to create a cup shape. A main art element that I used was lines to create the rap arounds for the cup. This cup gives off a happy feel, with the light colors and clear inside. I am happy about how this cup turned out.

This is the firm slab box I made. The box is made of clay with four low sides and small round balls going around all the sides. There is also small round indentations on most of the outside surface of the walls. I glazed the outside walls green, the small, round balls yellow, and the inside of the box brown. A new skill I used during this project was handling firm clay and then working with it and joining the box together. An art element that I used was curves on the top of each side, which are almost jagged. This box gives off a creepy kind of feel with the dark brown on the inside of the box I am very happy with the final product.

This is a pinch pot creature I made with clay. The size is not very large, but not very small. It has different shapes on it such as a ocular shape body and a narrowed head which is open at the mouth. Some noticeable features I put on it was a raised ridge on the nose, wrinkle lines on the knees, and a small tail on the end. The colors I used was an aquamarine which turned into a greenish color, red for the inner mouth, black on the eyes, nose, and ears, and also white for the teeth. A new skill I learned was using the new glaze for the clay. An art element I used was using colored glazes to create a better product than it was before. For a few years, I had always been wanting to make something like this with my own hands, specifically a hippo rather than say a piggy bank. So I made the creature and colored it an aquamarine/green color to represent the water that it swims in that is blue but murky like a green color, so I used that colored glaze. Overall I believe it turned out very well.
